40 Days with Still: Day 24, March 17, 2012

The Feast of St. Joseph
Another Good Reason to Go to Church

Is it possible to lose Jesus? do you identify with any of the ways of loosing Jesus that Winner lists? Are there other ways one might "lose" Jesus?

Throughout Still, Winner names reasons that she finds herself in church. What do you think are reasons people are drawn to church? what draws you to church?

For tomorrow: please read pages 121-136

Is it so much that we lose Jesus or is it that he appears to wax and wane in our lives as a means of drawing us closer to him? For instance, if we were to feel that we have lost Jesus in our daily prayer, might that not be an invitation by Jesus for us to seek him through a different mode such as Stations of the Cross? It seems that our sense of losing Jesus is but one way in which the Holy Spirit directs our lives and guides us towards a more complete life with Christ.

Totally agree, Michael. I also think the key to this comment is the "us" part. We lose Jesus--Jesus doesn't lose us. Not to say that there aren't moments of silence or perceived absence, but the notion that we can connect the same way we always have is false. As we grow and change, so does our spiritual life and our spiritual practices have to adapt to that (way easier said than done!).
