Busyness During Lent
"Busyness is the new sloth" a fellow parishioner tells Winner. Do you agree that in our current society, busyness has become something that could be added to the seven deadly sin? Is being busy really that harmful?
The forty days of Lent encourage us to slow down, abstain from busyness, and partake in prayer and remembrance of Christ and his suffering. How can you best use these forty days to practice reducing busyness?

Our hectic lives tempt us away from God. We become so caught up in the daily grind that we forget what truly matters. Praying the Daily Office is one way in which we can give ourselves a reality check.
Last year, at the Church of the Atonement, Brother Joseph discussed how he prays throughout his very busy day. It was enlightening and inspirational. Since then, I've incorporated Morning Prayer and Compline into my life (it hasn't been easy) and during this time of Lent have added the Noonday Service. Sometimes I slip and allow the external world to control my spiritual life but for the most part have been successful in following Brother Joseph's example.
